Tommy Russell | CEO & Director of Training
Tommy Russell is a co-founder and instructor at Cold Bore Institutions LLC, bringing nearly two decades of experience in the shooting sports and a deep commitment to precision rifle training.
His passion for long-range shooting began in 2007 and developed into years of focused study, training, and competition. Since 2018, Tommy has competed in PRS-style matches at a National and Regional level while helping shooters develop the fundamentals, technical knowledge, and practical skills required to perform at a higher level.
In 2020, Tommy co-founded Cold Bore Institutions, LLC with one goal: deliver practical, high-quality firearms training that produces capable, confident, and knowledgeable shooters.
Tommy believes the best instructors never stop being students. By continuing to train, compete, and learn from others in the industry, he brings current, real-world experience directly to every CBI course.

David White | Founder & Instructor/Coach
David is a co-founder and instructor at Cold Bore Institutions, LLC, bringing nearly two decades of experience in the shooting sports along with a professional background in security and gunsmithing.
Growing up in a hunting family, firearms were part of David’s life from an early age. In 2007, that familiarity developed into a serious passion for the shooting sports—particularly long-range precision rifle shooting. What began as an interest quickly became a pursuit of greater knowledge, consistency, and performance.
In 2014, David began working as a government security contractor, gaining professional experience in an environment where discipline, preparation, and attention to detail were essential. In 2019, he transitioned into professional gunsmithing, allowing him to combine his technical abilities with his passion for firearms and develop a deeper understanding of firearm systems, function, and performance.
In 2020, David and his cousin co-founded Cold Bore Institutions, LLC with a shared purpose: to provide practical, high-quality firearms training and pass their knowledge and experience on to shooters who want to improve.
While precision rifle remains David’s primary passion, he maintains proficiency across carbine and pistol disciplines as well. His approach to instruction focuses on building strong fundamentals, understanding the “why” behind the techniques, and giving students the knowledge and confidence to continue progressing beyond the course.
Whether a student is taking their first steps into the shooting sports or looking to refine an existing skill set, David’s goal remains the same: meet them where they are, challenge them to improve, and give them the tools to take their abilities further.
